The 2027 Universal Orlando Overhaul: What You Need to Know About These Major Changes
Inside the 2027 Overhaul: Universal Orlando Is Retiring Two Iconic Experiences to Make Room for the Future

Universal Orlando Resort is currently undergoing significant changes. After the success of the Epic Universe expansion, the resort is now focusing on its original parks, which means some big updates are coming.
If you plan to visit Universal Orlando in the next few years, you should know that two major attractions will close permanently in 2027. These closures will mark the end of an era for some familiar spots in the park. One attraction, which has been controversial, will go away, along with a popular dining option. Here is what will change and why it matters for your future vacation plans.
1. The End of the Road for Fast & Furious: Supercharged
Fans have debated the value of Fast & Furious: Supercharged at Universal Studios Florida since it opened in 2018. The ride has faced criticism for using motion-simulation and screens instead of the exciting physical thrills that guests expect from the movie franchise.
Universal has announced that Supercharged will close permanently in 2027. This change will happen alongside the opening of Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, a new roller coaster that will replace the former Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit.
By closing Supercharged, Universal is making way for a more immersive and thrilling experience. Although the company has not revealed what will replace Supercharged, this provides a chance for a fresh attraction that better reflects the speed and action of the Fast & Furious movies, or possibly something new to highlight that area of the park.

2. The Final Bow: Mythos Restaurant’s 2027 Closure
Universal has announced that the Mythos Restaurant at Islands of Adventure will close in 2027. This restaurant has often been voted the best theme park restaurant in the world.
Since it opened in 1999, Mythos has offered more than just food. Its unique setting features rock formations, waterfalls, and a mythological theme, showcasing the original creativity of Islands of Adventure. As the Lost Continent area loses attractions—like Poseidon’s Fury and The Eighth Voyage of Sinbad—Mythos is the last major highlight of this part of the park.
Universal is clearing the Lost Continent for a complete redevelopment. While the new themed land does not have a name yet, construction is underway. To ensure visitors still have a great dining option, Universal will transform Thunder Falls Terrace, located in the nearby Jurassic Park area, into a new full-service restaurant set to open in 2027.
The Big Picture: A Resort in Motion
Why all the changes now? Universal Orlando is clearly moving toward a strategy of massive, IP-driven immersive lands. Whether the replacement for the Lost Continent leans into the rumors of a Legend of Zelda or Pokémon-themed area, or if we see a shift toward more modern film franchises, one thing is clear: the resort is refusing to stand still.

Planning Tip for 2026/2027: If you have a trip planned, make your reservation at Mythos now. The restaurant will close soon, and many fans will want to have one last meal there. Think of 2026 as your best chance to enjoy these classic dishes before the 2027 changes alter the park for good.
Universal is building for the next generation of guests, and while we’ll miss the classics, the future of Universal Orlando looks brighter (and faster) than ever.
