Black Sherif Wins Legal Dispute With Ex-Management in High Court Victory

Ghanaian music sensation Black Sherif has recently achieved a significant legal victory in his dispute with his former management company, Charvis Wayne’s Consult. The High Court (Commercial Division) ruled in favor of Black Sherif on January 16, 2026, dismissing the majority of claims against him in a case officially titled Shadrach Owusu Agyei vs. Mohammed Ismail Sherif.

In this landmark ruling delivered by Her Ladyship Justice Afia Adu-Amankwa, the court found that most allegations lacked sufficient evidence. While acknowledging the existence of a management contract between Black Sherif and Charvis Wayne’s Consult, the court determined that the plaintiff, Charvis Wayne’s Consult, failed to substantiate allegations regarding financial losses, unaccounted revenue, and other damages claimed.

Despite a noted technical breach of contract due to Black Sherif’s engagement with a third party during the contract period, the court highlighted that no substantial financial loss was proven. Consequently, only nominal damages of GH¢50,000 were awarded, and all major reliefs sought by the former manager were dismissed.

Additionally, the court ordered GH¢15,000 in legal costs to cover the reasonable expenses incurred by Black Sherif’s defense, effectively concluding this lengthy legal battle between the award-winning artist and his former management team.

Following this legal triumph, Black Sherif, known for chart-topping hits such as “Kwaku the Traveller,” can now refocus on his music career and international engagements. This victory not only enhances his reputation in the Ghanaian music industry but also sets a precedent for other artists navigating similar legal challenges.
