Paramount Confirms 3 New TMNT Movies, First One Releases in Theaters This Month
From the 90s to the modern era: Here is how the heroes in a half-shell are dominating the box office once again

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are making a strong comeback. Since their first appearance in a live-action movie in 1990, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael have changed many times. Now, Paramount is launching multiple new projects that will appeal to fans of all ages.
Whether you enjoyed the 90s movies or liked the lively and fun style of Mutant Mayhem, the future of the TMNT franchise looks exciting.
1. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Chrome Alone – Lost in New Jersey (Out Now!)
If you’re looking for a quick dose of turtle power, you’re in luck. The first of Paramount’s new slate, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Chrome Alone – Lost in New Jersey, made its way to theaters on December 19, 2025.
This 3D animated short acts as a fun bridge, expanding on the universe established in the hit Mutant Mayhem. Directed by Kent Seki and produced by the powerhouse team of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, this holiday-themed romp sees our heroes straying from their NYC sewers and heading into the Garden State. Why? To investigate a mysterious toy company that’s exploiting their fame. It’s a classic “fish out of water” story that fans of the 2023 reboot will absolutely adore.

2. The Mutant Mayhem Sequel (Coming 2027)
The 2023 film Mutant Mayhem wasn’t just a win for the turtles; it was a financial and critical triumph, raking in over $180 million worldwide. Paramount isn’t about to leave that momentum on the table.
The official sequel is currently slated for September 17, 2027. Director Jeff Rowe is back at the helm, and the word on the street is that the sequel will lean into the iconic villainy of The Shredder. Expect the same distinct, messy, and vibrant animation style that made the first film a modern classic, but with higher stakes and even more mutant madness.
3. The Big Live-Action Hybrid Reboot (Coming 2028)
Perhaps the most ambitious project on the horizon is the untitled live-action/CG hybrid film, currently dated for November 17, 2028.
This project represents a major strategic shift for Paramount. While there was significant buzz surrounding an R-rated adaptation of the darker The Last Ronin comic, the studio has pivoted to a more family-friendly, blockbuster-style live-action approach. Produced by Neal H. Moritz—the mastermind behind the Sonic the Hedgehog and Fast & Furious franchises—this film is clearly being positioned to replicate the massive cross-generational appeal of the Sonic films.

It’s been a long time since the turtles were on the big screen in live-action (not since the 2016 Out of the Shadows), and this 2028 release aims to bring that spectacle back with a modern, high-budget polish.

Why the Turtles Still Rule the Box Office
The TMNT franchise has been popular since the 90s and continues to change with the times. It offers different content for everyone, like short films such as Chrome Alone and big movies like the 2028 reboot. Paramount wants to make sure that fans of all ages can enjoy the Ninja Turtles.
